Dr Greg Lydall MBBCh MRCPsych MD
Dr Greg Lydall is a psychiatrist with a vision. He works for Guernsey’s Health and Social Care as a General Adult Psychiatrist with a special interest in substance misuse. He has a research doctorate from University College London in the genetics of psychiatric disorders. He sits on several international advisory boards and has presented on addiction at the World Health Organisation.
Greg is passionate about solving global mental health and addiction through human and technological innovation. His dream is to solve mental ill health in his community, and ultimately become gainfully unemployed before retirement age. He has co-curated the Thrive2020 event since 2015 and is a community leader and activist. This is his Thrive2020 talk on solving mental health and making himself redundant.
His greatest professional joy is seeing people move into meaningful recovery and get their lives and families back. He believes that test-bed nations that can set their own regulations could lead the way in solving the world’s greatest challenges.
He has published and lectured widely on medical education, the mental health of doctors, and biological and social psychiatry. He has been working and living in Guernsey with his young family for seven years. Prior to that, he worked and trained in London and South Africa.
